The late Mr Joshua Brittain, first manager of the Goyt Mill, Marple, fro ma 1931 newspaper cutting: "When he left Marple just over 20 years ago, he became the manager of Hurst Mills, Ashton, eventually retiring in 1929." From Marple Local History Society Archives.
