Maud Tew c1900-1910Maud was the wife of Percy Tew, a music teacher and organist at the Congregational Church in Marple Bridge. Percy was the photographer who took this and several other slides provided to us by Marple Local History Society.

Mike CallanThis photo of local man Mike Callan was taken at The Victoria Palace Theater, London, at the 1967 Mr. Universe contest. Mike was up against Arnold Schwarzenegger and came 5th! Mike was born at 2 Chapel Fields and lived on Shirley Avenue as a young lad until he married and moved to Glossop. He trained at a club at the rear of Glengarth which was the hay loft over the stables.
