Minors Arms / Jordan Arms, Mellor

The Jordan Arms at Jordan Wall Nook, Mellor but thought to have been known as the "Minors Arms", probably due to nearby coal mines. See comments for more details. From Marple Local History Society Archives.

Comment from Bill Beard: The map link below gives the location of the Jordan Arms at Jordanwall Nook. In Jack Turnbull's book "Last Orders Please" he suggests that one of the pubs in the area was known as the Miners but was not the official name. A bit like the Foresters in Romiley that is known as the 'Piggy'. There is more info in the MLHS book by Derek Brumhead about mining in the area.
