The Corn Mill

The Corn Mill was separate to the main mill and survived much longer, not being demolished until the 1930s.

This mill may have been run by Francis Brindley, corn miller, who was living with his family at Oldknow's Stone Row from 1799, to at least 1807. If you lived at Stone Row it was highly likely you were working at the Mellor mill site, as the road from Stone Row led directly to the mill. Unfortunately there are no surviving records to confirm who was running the corn mill, however a corn miller was living at Stone Row?
Francis Brindley & Co., later ran Oldknow's Strines Rd mill.
