Account of migrant workers from Bedfordshire now working at Clayton's Mellor Mill in 1835: Mr Clayton gave all the families a load of coals on their arrival and charged them nothing at all for the the first nine days rent, He also offered them money to enable them to buy furniture. Thomas Clarke of Cranfield, Bedfordshire found the work people very civil and his employers exceedingly kind.
