Compstall Butcher (opposite Post Office)Pigott’s Commercial directory for Compstall Bridge lists the butcher in 1878 as William Petty and in 1928 and 1936 as M. Petty & Sons. This photo is probably pre-1914 (WWI). Notice the pig's head in the doorway. From Compstall Historical Society.May 20, 2014
