Marple Carnival 2010

Retiring Carnival Committee Chairman Bill Ardern was given a big send off by the people of Marple and thankfully the only thing that was wet about this one was the "Under the Sea" theme. If you have any good photos of this special day then please send them in.

French Boules Tournament 2010

On Saturday 28th August 2010 the Friends of Marple Memorial Park held a French Boules Tournament between local groups and societies. The trophy, which was sponsored by Kay Dee Hair and Beauty, was won by Marple Civic Society. This album contains photos of the day.

In 2010 the Food and Drink Festival morphed into the first Marple Festival, an ambitious fortnight of culture and events held between 10 - 25 September. Pride in Marple Awards 2010

Marple Christmas Cracker 2010

In 2010 Marple's Bi-annual Christmas Cracker turned into a two day event with Santa arriving along the canal on New Horizons to start the festivities on Friday 10 December. This was followed by the main event on Saturday with stalls and entertain on Market Street, the Hollins and outside Marple Baths. Well done the organisers!

30 Years for New Horizons

New Horizons was established in 1981 by then Mayor of Stockport, Gordon Bayley. Prince Charles was guest of honour at the opening ceremony and in the 30 years that have passed since the boat was launched it has carried in the region of 55,000 passengers. On 9 April 2011 the charitable trust that operates it celebrated New Horizon's 30th birthday in style with the people who have supported it for so many years.
