Romiley Young Farmers Show 2009

A change of venue but no change in the top quality entertainment for the 2009 RYFS. Thanks to the rain no change in the amound of mud either, making wellies a must once again. We'd be delighted to add your photos from the show to this album to illustrate the many facets of this great local event.

Although not publicised as a full blown "Christmas Cracker" event that's what everyone was calling it, and the 2009 Mini-Christmas Festival on Market Street was a great success, as these photos show.

Winter 2009/10

In 2009/10 Marple enjoyed the coldest and snowiest winter since 1962, when the Marple Aqueduct was damaged by frost. Words used by locals to describe it included: Crisp, Cold, Gorgeous, Slippery, White, Icey, Arctic, Annoying, Tiresome, Dangerous, Worrying and Enchanting! Let us have your pictures to record it for posterity!

Ludworth School Swimathon 2010-13

Each year pupils from Ludworth primary School in Marple Bridge raise money by swimming, splashing (and celebrate by pushing in their head teacher) at the Romiley Marina Pool. Expert swimmers and young paddlers between 4 and 11 years of age give their best while having as much fun as possible.

On Saturday 24 April 2010 Crafty Ladies of Market Street organised an Art and Craft Fair on the Precinct. They were lucky with the weather and Arthur Procter was on hand to capture the feel of the day with his camera.
