Millennium Exhibition 2000

mill_ex_03.jpg

In the year 2000, to celebrate the Millennium, Marple Local History Society put on a comprehensive exhibition covering the history of Marple, Mellor, Ludworth and District in Marple Library. Although these pictures are not large enough to read the displays properly they do at least give a flavour of the event.

Raft Race 2008

RAFT_RACE_22_6_08_32.JPG

The Raft Race is a long standing event in the Marple and District calendar that was started by the Marple Fire Brigade and continued by the Round Table. Nowdays it is organised by the Motor Neurone Disease Society and raises funds for that good cause. Despite poor weather the 2008 event was still well attended, after all, you can only get so wet!
