Biography
|
I moved to Marple from Denton, aged 7, in 1969, having previously only visited on the train to attend the carnival. Lived on Church Lane until 1972, then Alan Drive until I left home for University, thence to work in the South of England, in 1987. I attended Rose Hill Primary then Marple Hall (Grammar in 1973!). My parents continued to live on Alan Drive until my mum's death in 2010, my dad is still there. I keep in touch with Marple through him; he is a regular performer and contributor to the Carver Theatre and other local concerns

09/16/11 at 14:55The building about half way down from the top and 3/4 way in from the left of the picture is 28 and 28A Church lane. At the back of this building, on Brindley Avenue, there was a building, thought to be stables? and an orchard (just visible on the picture and apparently overgrown), that were demolished and built on in 1970/71. I am interested in any info anyone might have on these as I lived at 28 from 1969-1972 and have only a distant memory of the buildings and orchard that were there. |
