When Strines road mill was converted from a corn mill to a mineral mill, 'Bleak House' became the mill manager's house. There is a well in the cellar of 'Bleak House' and a stone lined culvert was found there some time ago; it is thought it may feed the well. Information from, 'Historic Industries of Marple and Mellor'.
