Ray Noble remembers: From 1940 to 1955 I lived at 16 Chapel Fields in front of the sorting office and behind this building and it was called 'The Girls Institute' and during the war it was a British restaurant you could sit in and have a meal at a price that was very nice also you could have a take-away. Inside the front door in a small porch was a serving hatch you took your own dinner plate, and a bowl for your sponge pudding and custard. It was a bit awkward walking home trying to keep your thumbs out of the gravy and custard. Up to the building being demolished it was used by All Saints Church and was home to the Church Lads Brigade.
