Marple Carnival 2016


The theme for Marple's 54th Carnival was RIO and it was a real Gold Medal Winner for participants on Saturday June 18 June with the weather holding good all day. As always, if you took any good shots on the day, please send them in to be added to this album.

Red Wheel Plaques 2016


The Transport Trust awarded two National Red Wheel commemorative plaques in 2016. These were unveiled at Possett Bridge and Marple Aqueduct on Tuesday 21 June by President of the Transport Trust, the Right Hon. Sir William McAlpine and Canal & River Trust’s Chief Executive, Richard Parry.

A Fact and Fun Day at Mellor Mill and Roman Lakes, with guided tours of the Mill, music, food and drink and lots of things for the children to do. A great day raising funds for Mellor Archaeological Trust and Friends of Our Valley too.

2016's Marple Festival was organised by Marple Business Forum and focused on the Food and Drink Day on Saturday 17 September. The weather was superb and there were buskers on every corner and lots of food, drink and charity stalls to enjoy.

Hawk Green Maypole 2017


Hawk Green Residents Association Mayday Festival 2017 was held on "The Green" on Sunday 14th May. The festival included the crowning of the May Queen and King, entertainment from Hawk Green Brass Band, Bubble Man and Children's Games. Well done HGRA!
